The assessment focused on areas influenced by mine water discharge and evaluated them according to several criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Degree of mine water impact on local watercourses<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Technical feasibility of installing treatment systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Hydrological characteristics of the water source<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Dependence of local communities on the affected water<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Agricultural use and irrigation potential<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Seven candidate locations (WTP1\u2013WTP7) were identified for preliminary consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each site was assessed using a standardised three-level scale reflecting the degree of mine water influence, from low to high impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Communities and Agriculture at the Center<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
In several assessed areas, communities rely directly or indirectly on watercourses affected by mining discharge. At the same time, many of these areas exhibit strong agricultural activity, with irrigation playing an important role in local livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In locations where both environmental impact and community dependence are high, the potential social benefit of installing a water treatment solution is correspondingly greater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The assessment also considered logistical and technical accessibility, including proximity to infrastructure and feasibility of system installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Laying the Groundwork for 2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
While detailed operational data will further refine these evaluations in 2026, the 2025 analysis provides a structured and transparent framework for prioritisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rather than selecting sites arbitrarily, MWAZACO is applying a risk-based, evidence-driven approach that balances environmental urgency with social benefit and technical feasibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This step represents a shift from general assessment toward targeted solution planning, a critical transition in the project\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
